Folks,

Now that the grilling season is upon us, I thought I'd start a thread about burgers. I'm looking for a killer burger recipe, and haven't really found anything good yet. I've tried mixing Montreal seasoning, 2 eggs, Heinz 57, and finely chopped onions into 3-4 pounds of 80/20 ground chuck - that worked out pretty well, but I'm looking for a change.

Anyone have a tried-and-true recipe/method for great burgers?

Discuss! And thanks - John

I've got tons of 'em! For starters, what do you/don't you like?

Simple Tex Mex Burgers

  • Ground Beef
  • Purple Onion (minced)
  • Fresh Jalapeno (seeded and chopped)
  • Fresh Cilantro (chopped)
  • Adobo Seasoning
  • Shredded Pepperjack

Mix, form into patties and grill. Serve topped with salsa.

Use ground veal and go light on all the spices you like - soooo tasty!

Oh, please don't use veal. Do you know how they are raised?

I am of the bobby flay train of thought.....

I just pat the burger really tightly, then liberally salt and pepper the outside. Grill then top with spices... the spices in the burger soak up the flavor while it is cooking. Give it a shot, It will be the best burger you haven't overdone.
